Suteki High End Japanese Assist Hooks

Very recently we were approached by a Japanese hook manufacturer Suteki to use their hooks. The timing couldn't have been better as we were looking for a very high end hook to either make or bring in, so this ended up being perfect as I was already experimenting with some of the hooks and the assist cord they offer, needless to say I was extremely impressed. Suteki has been making hooks since 1872 in Japan and continues that to this day.

Finding a great hook is tough at times as most hooks don't usually tick all the boxes for everyone. I've seen quite a few competitor hooks either bend out or snap which is never a good thing. There is a fine line between a thin enough gauge hook for an easy hook penetration but also the strength the withstand pressure from a large fish.

This is where Suteki shines! The Maboroshi line of hooks in particular in the 1/0 and 2/0 seem to have that perfect balance. I've been tying all of my dual hooks lately with 1/0 Maboroshi and 150lb black assist cord and they have been flawless. They also have pre-rigged options if you don't feel like tying them on your free time.
